Looking for information on the Internet can be a frustrating exercise: Web sites can be unreliable, and too often you spend more time perusing dead links than you do finding live leads.

That's why we provide the Ballpark Digest Directory, a listing of baseball-related businesses. Here is the only place you'll ever need to visit when you're looking for information about baseball-related vendors of all sorts. The listings are free to baseball-related businesses (check out our submission form here).

, 2007 (feedback) (submit story)
One of the fields at Snowden Grove Baseball Complex in Southaven, MIssissippi is undergoing a facelift that could position it for college baseball tournaments as early as 2008. The city of Southaven has hired Memphis architecture firm UrbanArch to redesign the field to include a 2,500-seat stadium with covered grandstands, press box and three luxury suites. The project, budgeted at $1.9 million, will include dressing rooms behind the dugouts of the stadium. Preliminary drawings are expected to be completed by late spring and bids will be let in June or July. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall so the facility can be ready for next spring.

Daktronics shares fall on fourth-quarter outlook
Feb. 14, 2007 (feedback) (submit story)
Shares of Daktronics Inc. fell 21 percent Wednesday after the maker of electronic scoreboards and video displays forecast fourth-quarter profit and revenue below Wall Street expectations. Net income for the three-month period ending Jan. 27 fell in line with analysts' estimates, but revenue missed expectations by more than $6 million. The Brookings-based company posted quarterly profits of $7 million, or 17 cents per share, on revenue of $106.7 million. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial were looking for the company to post a profit of 16 cents per share on revenue of $113 million. Part of the reason for the financial reversal: a slowdown in ballpark spending.
